Ecolution - Serie - die zwei Varianten - Ölflaschen - die federleichte Oelflasche

The new Ecolution series from EUROGLAS – light as a feather, climate-neutral & great.

Germaringen, July 20, 2022 – New ecological variants of existing bottle series not only save companies and bottlers money, but also reduce their carbon footprint. EUROGLAS, the expert for glass packaging in the wholesale trade, uses the lighter and climate-neutral Ecolution series to show what sustainable bottles can do and that environmental friendliness is also economically viable.

An economical solution (SOLUTION) that is affordable and environmentally friendly (ECO), that is the Ecolution series from EUROGLAS. The significant reduction in item weights results in cost savings through lower unit prices, reduced transportation costs and disposal charges and opens up sustainable options through reduced CO₂ emissions throughout the chain. With the Ecolution variants, EUROGLAS is introducing CO₂-reduced and climate-neutral options for the two most widely used bottle series in the oil sector, Dorica and Marasca.

With the slogan Light as a feather. Climate-neutral. Great. EUROGLAS presents the new Ecolution series, which represents a more sustainable and cost-reduced alternative to the conventional standard oil bottle for the customer. The climate-neutral bottles in the Dorica-Ecolution and Marasca-Ecolution series are between 20 and almost 40 percent lighter, making them more affordable and boasting optimized neck finishes. The dimensions of the models were chosen to minimize the effort required to change over labels, cardboard packaging and machine parts. EUROGLAS also promises climate neutrality for every bottle of glass packaging and guarantees this for its customers by offsetting emissions with climate protection projects. Ölmühle Hartmann, an edible oil producer from Augsburg, will switch to the new Ecolution bottle series in the fall and provides current figures.

Featherweight bottle: more stable and less expensive with the same capacity

A comparison of the previous standard bottles with the Ecolution version shows a weight reduction of approx. 75 grams for the 250 ml version, a saving of approx. 155 grams for the 500 ml bottle and a reduction of approx. 120 grams for the 750 ml size. This corresponds to a 30, 40 and 25 % reduction in item weight compared to the previous models.

EUROGLAS already reduces CO₂ emissions through the lower weight in production. All items are produced in Germany, so transportation distances are generally relatively short. “We pay a lot of attention to working with regional partners and are continuously improving our logistics concepts,” explains Head of Sales, Johannes Jäckle. The Allgäu-based company only offers all products in the Ecolution series in conjunction with an emissions exemption. All bottles are climate-neutral, i.e. unavoidable CO₂ emissions generated during production or transport are offset by means of so-called compensation certificates.

To offset emissions, EUROGLAS supports two climate protection projects certified to international standards: the construction of a dam in Vietnam and the distribution of energy-efficient cooking stoves in rural communities in Honduras. The Hydropower Project in Vietnam, which is dedicated to the construction and operation of a hydropower plant with a reservoir in the province of Quang Nam in Vietnam, contributes to the Global Sustainability Goals of affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth as well as climate protection measures. Customers who order climate-neutral bottles via EUROGLAS select the desired project and receive a certificate for climate-neutral glass packaging and the compensation of greenhouse gas emissions. EUROGLAS also plants a tree in the Spessart region for every offset CO₂ tonne for the customer.

EUROGLAS & Ölmühle Hartmann: CO₂ reduction of 20 percent

Ölmühle Hartmann is a long-standing customer of EUROGLAS and will switch to the Ecolution variant of the Dorica bottles in the fall of 2022. The CO₂ emissions of the Hartmann oil mill for the 250ml and 500ml bottles with a total quantity of approx. 750,000 units are reduced by approx. 60 t/CO₂ with the changeover, which corresponds to around 25,128 liters of heating oil and a reduction of 20.26%. The company achieves climate neutrality through compensation via one of the climate protection projects. “EUROGLAS helped us to guarantee our Made in Germany quality and short transportation routes by establishing a regional supply chain. This saves CO₂ emissions and together we are taking another step towards sustainability,” says Marcus Hartmann, Managing Director of Ölmühle Hartmann.

Optimized muzzle: less abrasion

The oil bottles in the Ecolution series have a newly designed neck finish that promises significant added value for the customer. The flattened thread, which is used in the muzzle variant for both the conventional and the new muzzles, helps to prevent aluminum abrasion. “The optimized Ecolution neck finish has a “lip” on the upper edge of the neck finish, onto which the spout insert is clicked instead of clinging to the neck finish entrance as with previous models. This makes it virtually impossible for the plastic insert, which is also a good 10% lighter than before, to fall out or be pulled out,” explains Johannes Jäckle, Head of Sales at the family-owned company EUROGLAS. ” This significantly reduces our dependence on tolerances in the glass area and prevents contamination of the bottle neck finish due to aluminum abrasion. The end customer benefits from optimized handling and the bottler receives fewer consumer complaints.” The new closures will be available from June both as machine closures for automatic sealing and as pre-rolled versions for manual processing.

About EUROGLAS
The family business, based in the Allgäu region, has been a competent partner for glass packaging since 1992. Its strengths include the production of standard packaging as well as the manufacture of individual glass bottles and packaging jars to customer specifications. In order to be able to offer every customer not only quality and reliability but also the best conditions, intensive contacts were established with almost all glass manufacturers in Europe right from the start and a lean, efficient company structure was maintained at all times. Thanks to the coherent concept and the trust of the customers, it was very soon possible to efficiently bundle purchasing volumes and thus achieve interesting price advantages for both large and small customers. Other decisive factors for the success of Euroglas are the good personal contacts with partners and the comprehensive service package. In 2010, Christoph and Johannes Jäckle took over the company founded by their father. The structures with the glass manufacturers in Europe that have grown over the years and the company’s enormous wealth of experience have been retained, as has the successful company philosophy of the last two decades: personal contact, competent advice, optimized service and consistently favourable conditions.
