EUROGLAS

FINISHING TECHNOLOGIES

OVERVIEW

SCREEN PRINTING

In screen printing, colors are applied to the underlying containers using screens. The colors penetrate the screen at the designated permeable areas (print image) and thus adhere to the substrate (glass). The colors are then cured thermally or using UV light.

Screen printing is a very mature and proven technology and is used in many different areas of our lives. It can be used to create a wide variety of printed images, from the finest lines and contours to full-surface areas. Screen printing is also suitable for both small and large quantities. High speeds allow high-quality packaging upgrades to be achieved at the best possible price-performance ratio, especially for large quantities.

DIGITAL PRINTING

Digital printing is one of the latest printing technologies for glass bottles and offers several advantages over the screen printing process. The printed images are applied to the containers using “print heads” (similar to laser printers). All CMYK colors are used directly here. These are bright and have excellent durability. By applying clear varnish in various stages, haptic (embossing) effects can be achieved that are very similar to embossing in glass. By printing with print heads instead of fixed screens, this technology is extremely flexible and it is theoretically also possible to produce “quantity 1”.

Special features

HOT FOIL STAMPING

Here, films on rolls in various basic colors are applied to painted containers or raw glass. Thanks to new technologies, this “metallic” effect can be applied to a wide range of colors in addition to gold, silver and copper. Hot foil is particularly glossy and stands out, making it suitable for creating high-quality accents and effects.

Special features

COATING

When coating containers, paints (solvent-, water- or powder-based) are applied to the respective containers using sophisticated systems. Individual colors and effects can be achieved – from transparent or opaque to matt/glossy to rust or marble effects. Partial or complete coatings are also possible and can be combined with all other finishing techniques (except ceramic screen printing).

Special features

ACID MATTING

Here, the glass surface is roughened using acid. The surface feels soft and velvety to the touch and becomes almost transparent again when it comes into contact with water / liquid. Window effects are just as possible as clear demarcations.
